Materials:
Sportweight cotton: small amounts of red, green and brown.
hook: 3 mm Conversion chart
tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Small amount of polyester stuffing
Abbreviations:
ch: chain
sl: slip
st: stitch
sc: single crochet
Instructions:
Apple:
Rnd 1: Using red ch 2; work 5 sc in second ch from hook; DO NOT JOIN; place marker to mark end of rnd.
Rnd 2: work 2 sc in each st around; place marker (10 sts)
Rnd 3: 2 sc in first st, sc in next st; *(2 sc in next st, sc in next st); repeat from * around; place marker. (15 sts)
Rnd 4: 2 sc in first st, sc in next 2 sts; *(2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts); repeat from * around; place marker. (20 sts)
Rnd 5, 6 and 7: sc in each st around; place marker.
Rnd 8: sc dec over first 2 sts, sc in next 2 sts; *(sc dec over next 2 sts, sc in next 2 sts); repeat from * around. (15 sts)
Rnd 9: sc dec over first 2 sts, sc in next st; *(sc dec over next 2 sts, sc in next st); repeat from * around. (10 sts)
Rnd 10: sc dec over first 2 sts; *sc dec over next 2 sts; repeat from * around; join with sl st to first st; fasten off leaving long tail for weaving. (5 sts)
Stuff apple with small amount of polyester stuffing.
Using tapestry needle weave long tail left from rnd 10 through the remaining st of rnd 10 and pull securely.
Using tapestry needle and left over tail push needle down through center of apple from point A to point B and back to A. Pull so that point A and point B are indented. (see fig 1)
Fig 1:

Leaf:
Using green ch 4; sc in second ch from hook; work 3 dc in next st, (sc, ch 1, sc) in last st; working on other side of starting ch; work 3 dc in next st; sc in last st; join with sl st to top of first st; fasten off. Attach leaf at top of apple at point “A”.
Stem:
Using brown ch 3; sl st in second ch from hook; sl st in next ch; fasten off. Attach stem at point “A”.
Tail:
Attach red with sl st at point “B” of apple; ch 40, sl st
in 4th ch from hook (the loop created by the ch 4 will be used to hold the tassel); sl st in each ch across; fasten off.
Weave in all ends.
Tassel:
Cut (8) 5” strands of red. Using ch-4 loop from tail
insert ½ of the 8” strands through the ch-4 loop 2.5” on each side of ch-4 loop); Making sure that all ends are even tie a small piece of red at point “C” as shown in fig 2 to secure tassel just below ch-4 loop.
