Abbreviations:
Sl: sl

sc: single crochet
dc: double crochet
Ch: Chain
Sp: space
Ww: worsted weight
FLO: front loop only
BLO: back loop only

Special Stitches:
FLO/BLO: Front loop only/Back loop only

Materials:
Ice cream/sherbet container with cover(1 litre size)(1 litre = approx. 1 quart)
Worsted weight burgundy
Worsted weight white
Pink ribbon (18")
Sand/kitty litter/gravel (enough to fill container)
Hook: 4 mm (or size required to achieve gauge)Conversion Chart
tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

Instructions:
DO NOT JOIN ROUNDS UNLESS INDICATED. USE MARKER TO MARK ENDS OF ROUNDS.
Bottom section: Rnd 1:With burgundy ch 2; work 8 sc in second ch from hook; place marker. (8 sts)
Rnd 2:Work 2 sc in each st around; place marker. (16 sts)
Rnd 3:Work 2 sc in first st, sc in next st; *(work 2 sc in next st, sc in next st);
repeat from * around; place marker. (24 sts)
Rnd 4:Work 2 sc in first st, sc in next 2 sts; *(work 2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts);
repeat from * around; place marker. (32 sts)
Rnd 5: Work 2 sc in first st, sc in next 3 sts; *(work 2 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts);
repeat from * around; place marker. (40 sts)
Rnd 6: working in FLO sc in each st around; place marker.
Using both loops sc in each st around until piece measures same height as bottom section
of container to just below cover. - see fig 1 ( approximately 5.5"). Fasten off

Top:

Rnd 2:Work 2 sc in each st around; place marker. (16 sts)
Rnd 3:Work 2 sc in first st, sc in next st; *(work 2 sc in next st, sc in next st);
repeat from * around; place marker. (24 sts)
Rnd 4:Work 2 sc in first st, sc in next 2 sts; *(work 2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts);
repeat from * around; place marker. (32 sts)
Rnd 5: Work 2 sc in first st, sc in next 3 sts; *(work 2 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts);
repeat from * around; place marker. (40 sts)
Rnd 6: Work 2 sc in first st, sc in next 4 sts; *(work 2 sc in next st, sc in next 4 sts);
repeat from * around; place marker. (48 sts)
Rnd 7: Work 2 sc in first st, sc in next 5 sts; *(work 2 sc in next st, sc in next 5 sts);
repeat from * around; Join with sl st to first st; fasten off. (56 sts)
Rnd 8:Using BLO join white with sl st in any st of last rnd; ch 3(counts as first dc);
dc in each st around; join with sl st to top of first st.
Rnd 9: Using both loops ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in next st, ch 1, skip next st;
*(work dc in next 2 sts, ch 1, skip next st) repeat from * around; join with sl st to
top of first st.
Rnd 10: Sc in each st and ch sp around; join with sl st to top of first st.
Rnd 11: Ch 3 (counts as first dc; work 4 more dc in same st as first st ; skip next st,
work 5 dc in next st, skip next st; repat from * around; join with sl st to top of first
st. Fasten off.

Finishing:
Weave ribbon through ch-1 spaces of rnd 9.
Fill container with sand/kitty litter or gravel.
Place bottom piece onto container and then place top piece onto container.
Tie ribbon in a bow.
