Materials:
50 grams of red worsted weight cotton
small amount of worsted weight white
4 mm hook Conversion chart
tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

Size: 10"


Abbreviations:
Sc: single crochet
Dc: double crochet
Sl: sl
St(s): stitch (es)
Ch: Chain
Sp: space
Sc dec: single crochet decrease

Special Stitches:
sc dec: single crochet decrease
Draw up a loop in next 2 sts, yo and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

Instructions:
Rnd 1: With red ch 4, join with sl st to first st to form a ring; ch 4 (counts as first dc + ch 1) (dc, ch 1) in ring 11 times; join with sl st to first st. (12 dc, 12 ch-1 sps).

Rnd 2: Ch 3(counts as dc), dc in first dc, ch 1; * (2 dc in next dc, ch 1) Repeat from * around; join with sl st to top of first st. (24 dc, 12 ch-1 sps)

Rnd 3: ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in same st, dc in next dc, ch 1 *(2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1) repeat from * around; join with sl st to top of first st. (36 dc, 12 ch-1 sps)

Rnd 4: ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1 *(dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1) repeat from * around; join with sl st to top of first st. (48 dc, 12 ch-1 sps)

Rnd 5: ch 3, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next 2 dc, ch 1, *(dc in next 2 dc, ch 2, dc in next 2 dc, ch 1) repeat from * around; join with sl st to top of first st. (48 dc, 12 ch-1 sps, 12 ch-2 sps)

Rnd 6: sl st to second dc; ch 3 (counts as first dc); work [2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] in ch-2 sp; dc in next dc, ch 1; *(skip next [dc, ch-1 sp and dc], dc in next dc; work [2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in next ch-2 sp] dc in next dc, ch 1); repeat from * around; join with sl st to top of first st.

Rnd 7: sl st to second dc, ch 3 (counts as first dc, dc in next dc; work [2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] in ch-2 sp; dc in next 2 dc, ch 1; *(skip next [dc, ch-1 sp and dc], dc in next 2 dc; work [2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in next ch-2 sp] dc in next 2 dc, ch 1); repeat from * around; join with sl st to top of first st. Fasten off.

Edging:
Join white with sl st in dc after the one used to fasten off.

Sc in same st as joining, sc in next 2 dc, work 3 sc in ch-2 sp, sc in next 3 dc, sc dec over next 2 dc, *(sc in next 3 dc, work 3 sc in ch-2 sp, sc in next 2 dc, work sc dec over next 2 dc) repeat from * around; join with sl st to top of first st; fasten off.
