Materials:
Small amounts of size 5 cotton(can use sport weight cotton)
Colors: red and white
Crochet Hook: 2.00 mm hook
Tapestry needle for sewing
Small piece of cardboard for making pompom.
magnetic strip

Gauge:
2.00 mm hook 4 st = 1"

Abbreviations:
ch: chain
st(s): stitch(es)
RS: right side
WS: wrong side
BLO: back loops only
FLO: front loops only
sl: slip
sc: single crochet
sc dec: single crochet decrease
yo: yarn over

Single Crochet Decrease:
Draw up a loop in each of next 2 sts; yo and draw
through all 3 loops on hook.

Instructions:
Brim: (use red)

We are now working in rows.

Row 1: using 2.00 mm hook ch 5, sc in second ch
from hook and sc in each ch across; ch 1, turn. (4 sts)
Row 2: working in BLO sc in each st across; ch 1,
turn.
Repeat row 2 until there are a total of 27 rows..
Last row: sc in each st across; fasten off.

We are now working in rounds.

Rnd 1:Still using red work 28 sc evenly spaced around
upper edge of brim changing for white in last part of
last st. DO NOT JOIN; place marker.(Mark this side
as RS)

Rnd 2: sc in each st around; DO NOT JOIN; place
marker.
Rnd 3 - 8: sc in each st around; DO NOT JOIN; place
marker.
Rnd 9: sc dec over first 2 sts; sc dec over next 2 sts;
Repeat from * around. Join with sl st to top of first st;
fasten off leaving 6" tail (14 sts)

With WS facing weave tail through all remaining sts
from rnd 9; pull taut. Secure and fasten off.

Weave in all ends.

Pompom:
Take small piece of cardboard approximately 1.5 ".

Using red wrap red around cardboard approximately
50 time. Slide off cardboard holding securely. Tie
a 6" piece of cotton around center of "pompom".
Secure tightly. Trim to desired size.

Attach pompom to top of hat as seen in picture
Attach magnetic strip to back of fridgie.
